Differences. Paid Antivirus vs Free Antivirus

Antivirus software is sold or distributed in many forms.

On the free side are some solid and reputable antivirus programs for Windows machines. AntiVir, Avast Free Antivirus, Avira Free Antivirus, AVG AntiVirus Free and Bitdefender Antivirus Free Edition are just a few.

A long-term analysis of AV-Test.org antivirus software testing suggests that paid products tend to demonstrate higher levels of prevention and removal than do free antivirus software.

In terms of basic performance, anecdotal testing shows that the free and paid products were about the same. Some were faster than others.

The only noticeable difference between free and paid software was when it came to detecting some new threats. Paid products, with their more elaborate system-behavior monitors, are more likely to pick those up and to warn you about other possible dangers.

Free antivirus software usually provides a bare minimum level of protection. It will scan for malware, and often can perform automatic scans, too. One of the biggest issues to going with a free product is the lack of technical support.

User interfaces are typically as good (or as bad) in free products as they are in their paid counterparts. Avira and Avast, for example, use the same basic interface for their free and paid versions; they just include or leave out certain features and toggles as needed.

If you use PC for buying something and pay with credit card online then you need to have maximum virus protection and it is strongly recommended to use paid antivirus softwares. In other cases, when you use PC for games, social medias, internet surfing and etc. free antivirus softwares will be enough for all your needs.
