Cloud Backup

Cloud backup, also known as online backup refers to backing up data to a remote, cloud-based server. Is a strategy for backing up data that involves sending a copy of the data over a proprietary or public network to an off-site server, This is done remotely over the internet. As a form of cloud storage, cloud backup data is stored in and accessible from multiple distributed and connected resources that comprise a cloud. Cloud backup is a technology that involves sending a copy of your data to an offsite vendor – a cloud provider – that keeps the data secure and accessible in real time, usually for a monthly fee.

The server is usually hosted by a third-party service provider, who charges the backup customer a fee based on capacity, bandwidth or number of users. Cloud backup is the easiest way to get the security of off-site backup for your important files. Cloud backup is a type of service through which cloud computing resources and infrastructure are used to create, edit, manage and restore data, services or application backup. In the enterprise, the off-site server might be owned by the company, but the chargeback method would be similar.

Cloud backup service providers, backup your data stored on multiple devices by creating a copy of files. These files can be recovered or restored as and when required or when the original files gets lost or becomes unretrievable. For example, if your computer crashes or becomes infected by a virus attack, you can retrieve a copy of those files from the "Cloud".

Backing up data to the cloud means you're backing up data to a hard drive in a secure data centre via your Internet connection, instead of just to a hard drive in your house. In fact, that data centre might be located on the other side of the world.

Cloud backup may also be called online backup or remote backup.
